What verification actually checks

Every Chale captain passes a document review done by a person. Here is what that means in practice, and what it does not mean.

A captain cannot receive a single trip offer until their documents have been reviewed and their vehicle activated. That review is done by a verification agent — a person — not by an automatic check on an uploaded image.

What is reviewed

A driving licence valid for the vehicle class. The vehicle’s registration certificate. An accepted identity proof. Each document has its own state, its own history of versions, and a recorded decision with a reason attached.

What happens when something is rejected

The captain is told which document failed and why, and can upload a replacement. Nothing is silently ignored, and a rejected document does not quietly disappear from the record — the previous version and the decision stay in the history.

Expiry is enforced, not remembered

When a licence, registration or insurance document passes its expiry date, the vehicle comes out of service. It is not a reminder somebody could miss; it is a condition the server applies. We would rather take a vehicle off the road for a day than have it carry somebody on an expired document.

What this does not mean

Verification confirms that documents are valid and belong to the person presenting them. It is not a character assessment and it is not a prediction. That is why the other safety features — the start code, trip sharing, emergency contacts and a reporting route straight to operations — exist alongside it, not instead of it.
